Recreational Action Sports Entertainment – Billings, MT

Mike Marsh founded Recreational Action Sports Entertainment LLC in 2003 in Billings, Montana. RASE LLC (pronounced like “race”) is a motorsports and events promotions company.

The goal of the company is simple: Provide high quality entertainment for all ages while bringing people (primarily motorcycle tourists and enthusiasts) to the beautiful state of Montana. We love when people from all over the world come to Montana to Ride The Big Sky® and enjoy one of our fun and exciting events.

It is our hope that The Warm Up® (held annually in Billings the weekend before the Sturgis Rally) will continue to grow and become the pre-Sturgis destination. Here’s Marsh discussing the genesis of The Warm Up®:

More About RASE

The company is owned and operated by Michael J. Marsh. Marsh has been an AMA professional flat track racer (39j), and has competed in motocross, scrambles, flat track, hill climb and cross-country enduro events since the early 1970’s. Mike is also an approved American Motorcyclist Association promoter and insurance safety officer.

Mike has been a member of the Billings Motorcycle Club since 1974, and served as the club’s President in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Efforts continue in conjunction with local, state and federal authorities to keep open and maintain public land riding areas.

Marsh’s motorcycle riding and racing experience has been one of the major drivers of his adult life. He was the Over 40 class season champion of the BMC in 2002, and has a number of wins that he is proud of, the most famous of which include winning the Sturgis Rally short track in both August, 1976 and August, 1977. Ask him to tell you the story of Miss South Dakota from 1976! He is particularly proud to have placed third and fifth in the 40+ and Vintage flat track classes in the Jackpine Gypsies 2003 season championship. An unfortunate incident on the same short track in Sturgis in June, 2005 ended his racing career. Click here to watch the video of Mike’s last race in Sturgis…

Mike has gained valuable experience in the industry as a shop owner and student of major events. His family owned the Yamaha / Polaris franchise in Billings in the early 1980’s where Mike served as the General Manager. Also, he lived in California for 15 years, where he frequented events such as the Anaheim Supercross, the Long Beach Grand Prix and many events held at Roger Penske’s California Speedway.

With decades of riding and racing experience and an interest in bringing world class motorsports entertainment to Montana, Marsh founded RASE LLC in 2003. The company promoted its first race that year, the first Sturgis Warm Up at Billings Motorsports Park. Since that time, Marsh has promoted and assisted with events in the Billings area including the Great American Hill Climb, the MetraPark Arena Cross, the Fall Classic Championship Supercross and an excellent show put on by the high flying guys of SCS Racing of Bozeman, Montana.

A special group of people have been there year after year to support and stage the RASE events. These people include Mark Cardwell and his family, Chuck Bonnett and his family, Bob Cardwell, Rich Wagner, Keith Satre, Chuck Bonnett, Greg Rush, Troy Dunlap, the many volunteer members of the Billings Motorcycle Club and the employees of Midland Claims Service. These people have provided invaluable service and helped RASE put on some of the best shows and most competitive racing in the region. And a special thanks to the many businesses and organizations in the Billings area that have provided support to RASE…including the Gable family (Hank’s Body Shop), Bruce Jensen and Intermountain Distributing, Pyro-Fx, Eagle Rider, the Road Dogs Motorcycle Club, Billings Motorcycle Club, Deanna Darnielle, the Montana Vintage Motorcycle Club, Snelling Personnel Service, Wingfoot Tire, Staley’s Tire and Automotive, Gunder McCombs, Antoinnette Tease, Yellowstone Bank, Billings Hotel and Convention Center, Billings Motorsports Park, the Billings Chamber of Commerce, the Yellowstone Lodging Association, MetraPark, and the Yellowstone County Commissioners.

RASE is proud to be located in Billings, Montana. Billings is the gateway between the Rockies and the Great Plains, with some of the most enjoyable and picturesque road and off-road riding in the United States. Billings is Montana’s Trailhead for motorcycle tourists. We hope that in your travels, you will come through Billings on your way to Ride The Big Sky®.
